There are two types of coverage that can help pay for your eye care services and products. You may have both. Our practice accepts both.

1 Vision Care Plans (such as VSP and Vision Care Direct)

2 Medical Insurance (such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare, United Healthcare, or Midland’s Choice)

It’s important to know:

  • Vision care plans only cover routine vision exams along with eyeglasses and contact lenses. Vision plans only cover a basic screening for eye disease. They do not cover diagnosis, management, or treatment of eye disease.
  • Medical insurance must be used if you have any eye health problem or systemic health problem that has ocular complications. Your doctor will determine if these conditions apply to you, and some are determined by your case history.
  • If you have both types of coverage it may be necessary for us to submit some services to one plan and other services to the other. We will use coordination of benefits to do this properly.
  • We will submit electronic claims to your medical insurance carrier and to vision plans we participate in. To confirm your eligibility we must have all your current coverage information in advance. If some fees are not paid by your plan, we will bill you for any unpaid deductibles, co-pays, or non-covered services as allowed by the insurance contract.

We accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and CareCredit (a healthcare credit card offering no interest if paid in 6-months.)  The PatientReach mobile app allows payment by American Express as well.

We’ve all been in that situation at one time or another. That’s one reason we offer several ways to stay connected between your regular exam visits. As always, you can call and talk personally with a staff member during office hours, or leave a message after hours (319.385.9534). If you have a non-emergent health or vision related question, there are also 3 new ways to send a secure message directly to us whenever that thought comes to mind. We’ll see it when we’re back in the office and message or call you back. They are: SecureCare Portal (best for clinical questions), PatientPortal (best for adminstrative or optical questions), and our PatientReach Mobile app.

When you come in for your next appointment make sure we have your current email address and we’ll set up your SecureCare portal login then. Once you’re back home we encourage you to explore your chart and the educational information related to your diagnoses. Our normal office hours are:

  • MON. 8 AM – 5 PM
  • TUE. 8 AM – 5 PM
  • WED. 9 AM – 5 PM
  • THU. 8 AM – 6 PM
  • FRI. 8 AM – 1 PM
  • SAT. By Appointment

Our office is closed for these holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and the Friday preceding it, Thanksgiving and the Friday following it, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day.

Occasionally the office is closed because of very hazardous weather conditions, or when we have continuing education that includes the entire staff. Exceptions to our normal office hours will be posted below and on signs at the office.
